I. Use

The lightweight dynamic cone penetrometer is a portable testing device that evaluates the compaction, bearing capacity, and deformation resistance of materials such as soil or asphalt by driving a probe into them using hammer kinetic energy. It is primarily used for rapid on-site inspection of subgrade/base layer compaction quality in road construction (e.g., verifying the compaction of fill soil or graded crushed stone bases), assessing the uniformity of asphalt pavement construction and repair effectiveness (e.g., testing the deformation resistance of asphalt layers), classifying shallow soils in geological surveys (e.g., preliminary identification of sandy or clayey soils), and monitoring agricultural soil compaction (e.g., analyzing the compaction status of farmland tillage layers).
